Anneke van Giersbergen zal voor altijd bekend staan als zangeres van melancholische metalband The Gathering. Na het verlaten van de band in 2007 heeft ze een stevige solo carrière opgebouwd en meerdere malen samengewerkt met Canadees metal genie Devin Townsend. Om haar progressieve metal kant te uiten heeft Anneke VUUR opgericht, een nieuwe band met een aantal van de beste metal muzikanten van Nederland. VUUR zal hun full-length debuut 'In This Moment We Are Free - Cities’ uitbrengen op 20 oktober via InsideOut Music. Daarna zal VUUR op toer gaan om haar nieuwe album In This Moment We Are Free Cities (lp) te promoten en zich focussen op nieuw materiaal.
